First Presbyterian Church Anderson

First Presbyterian Church is a member of the Presbyterian Church in the United States of America, commonly known as the PC (USA). Some trademark beliefs of The PC (USA) is that Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church, God is sovereign, scripture is the written word of God, and salvation is received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. The name "Presbyterian" is a description of how the church is governed. It comes from a Greek word assigned to church leadership in the New Testament, which is translated "elder." FPC Anderson is governed by two pastors and fifteen elders who have been elected by the congregation to serve the church on our governing board called the session. It is the session's responsibility to prayerfully discern the will of God on behalf of the congregation for many of the important decisions.
